CIGARETTE TAX INCREASE ON JUNE, 2012 BALLOT: A ballot question to raise California's state cigarette taxes by $1.00 per pack was certified in 2010 to be placed on a June, 2012 state election ballot. This increase would hike the tax to $1.87 per pack, exceeding all border states except Arizona. Such a large increase will hurt retailers and wholesalers while increasing smuggling and other illegal sales. Vote NO!
